Ukraine could soon export its beef to Turkey as the country's State Service on Food Safety has discussed with Turkey's General Directorate of Food and Control on taking the final steps for obtaining the necessary veterinary certificate for the export, as reported by Novoe Vremya.

Representatives of the competent authorities of both Ukraine and Turkey have recently met to discuss the current procedural issues regarding the access of Ukrainian beef exports to the Turkish market.

Ukraine's Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement that "it was decided that the principal issues related to the harmonization of the veterinary certificate for the export of Ukrainian beef to the Republic of Turkey will be finalized next week."

In April, a technical mission from Turkey visited Ukraine in order to assess the system of state control over the domestic beef production. Turkish inspectors visited a number of facilities that are interested in exporting their products to Turkey.
