Russian manufacturers are experimenting with the creation of domestic "environmentally friendly" food packaging to replace imported analogues, its mass production will begin this year, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko.
"We are now conducting an experiment, it is in the active phase - how to "marry" our pulp and paper industry with food manufacturers so that imported packaging can be replaced. We hope that the experiment will be successful," Abramchenko said in an interview with RBC.
According to her, against the backdrop of the departure of foreign companies and technologies, the most pressing issue now is aseptic packaging, Tetra Pak, Pure Pak. “Maybe there won’t be that beautiful white packaging that is familiar to the eye – it will be gray, as we call it, “environmentally friendly”, but it will be ours, domestic,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
“It is important that such a replacement will not affect the quality and safety of what is packaged in this package. And we will not return to aluminum cans,” she stressed. While the experiment is going on, it is still “very difficult” to talk about how comparable the cost of such domestic packaging is with foreign ones, but its production will go into mass production this year, the vice-premier added.
The experiment involves the Mondi group (Komi Republic), as well as manufacturers of dairy products - for example, JSC "Training and Experimental Dairy Plant" of the VGMHA named after N.V. Vereshchagin. “Now we are increasing our production and at the same time we are testing our paints for use on imported technology. Plus, printing inks have been included in parallel imports,” Abramchenko said, mentioning such paint manufacturers as Gangut, ABV Flexo and Print Color.
