Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for mediating in resolving the issue of Ukrainian grain supplies and achieving a "package solution" for the export of Russian food and fertilizers.
"With your direct participation and the mediation of the UN Secretary General, the issue related to the supply of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports has been resolved. The supplies have already started, and I want to thank you both for this and for the fact that at the same time a "package decision" was made on the uninterrupted supply of Russian food and fertilizers to world markets," Putin said, starting talks with Erdogan in Sochi.
A Russian government delegation visited Turkey ahead of Erdogan's visit to Sochi.
"A representative delegation of the economic bloc of the Russian government visited Turkey at your invitation, worked out all the most important areas of our interaction, there are many of them," Putin said.
He expressed hope that following the results of the talks, a memorandum on the further development of trade and economic ties between the two countries would be signed. As the President of the Russian Federation stressed, "we have major projects, everyone knows about the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, but there are other projects as well."
The President of the Russian Federation also said that the Turkish Stream is working without failures.
The Turkish Stream is today one of the most important arteries for supplying Europe with Russian gas. And unlike all other directions for the supply of our hydrocarbons, the Turkish Stream is working properly, rhythmically, without any failures," Putin said.
He invited his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss all the issues of interest in the Syrian settlement.
"Of course, let's talk about problems that we have been dealing with for a long time. I mean security issues in the region, primarily the Syrian crisis. Russia and Turkey have made a great contribution to normalizing the situation there," Putin said.
He promised: "Of course, we will not bypass this topic today."
