Russia should overtake New Zealand in exports of venison, says Alexei Chekunkov, head of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East. "I noticed that New Zealand is overtaking the Russian Federation in the export of venison. We believe that this is wrong. We will fight for victory," he told reporters on Tuesday in Naryan-Mar during a working trip to the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO).
The head of the region, Yuri Bezdudny, said that in 2022, with the support of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East, three new production bases for reindeer farms in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug were created. “It is thanks to the support of the ministry <…> that this year we managed to set up three production bases for reindeer herders. And this means to ease their hard work,” the governor said.
The production base is a complex of modular buildings designed for livestock accounting, zootechnical activities, deer slaughter, cooling and storage of deer carcasses and their products, autonomous power sources, as well as a room for temporary residence. "I think that all the processes here are organized effectively," Chekunkov told journalists.

As explained to TASS in the press service of the governor of the district, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug does not have a certificate of the EU countries for reindeer breeding products.

He.
