The departmental publication of the Rosselkhoznadzor Veterinary and Life, citing data from the National Union of Pig Breeders (NSS), reports that wholesale prices for domestic pork are declining every year.

Yury Kovalev, General Director of the NCC, spoke about the dynamics of prices in the wholesale sector today at the plenary meeting of the international exhibition MAP Russia & VIV 2023. He clarified that in 2022, pork fell in price by 6% year on year, and in January-May 2023 - by another 7%. And the decline in prices has become a stimulus for the growth of meat consumption in Russia.

In general, the annual per capita meat consumption is currently estimated at 78.9 kilograms, where about 38% (30 kilograms) falls on pork, and the head of the professional association considers its affordable price to be the main social achievement of the industry.
