In April of this year, the indicator increased by 3.2% in annual terms. The volume of agricultural production in May in current prices, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 488.1 billion rubles, in January-May - 1.779 trillion rubles. In 2021, agricultural production decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous year.

At the end of May, the number of cattle in all types of farms in the Russian Federation amounted to 18.3 million heads, having decreased by 2.4% compared to the same date last year, of which 7.8 million heads were cows (by 1.7% less). The number of pigs increased by 2.3% to 27.6 million, sheep and goats decreased by 2.1% to 22.8 million.

In agricultural organizations at the end of May, compared with the corresponding date of the previous year, the number of cattle decreased by 1.9%, cows - by 1%, sheep and goats - by 2.9%. The number of pigs increased by 3.9%, and poultry - by 0.4%. Household households accounted for 39.9% of cattle, 8.1% of pigs, 44.6% of sheep and goats (at the end of May 2021 - 40.5%, 9.2% and 45.6%, respectively).

The production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in May in farms of all categories increased by 5.2% in annual terms - up to 1.3 million tons (in live weight), milk production increased by 0.4%, to 3 million tons, egg production compared with May last year increased by 1.8% and amounted to 4.1 billion pieces.
