The volume of agricultural production in Russia in January-October 2022, according to preliminary estimates, increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 7.2 trillion rubles, according to Rosstat.In October 2022, the figure amounted to 1.31 trillion rubles.

As of November 1, 2022, in Russia as a whole, grain and leguminous crops have been threshed from 93.9% of the area, of which corn for grain - from 35.1%. Of industrial crops, sunflower was removed from 55.7% of crops, sugar beet - from 64.3% (82.9% as of November 1, 2021) of the area. Potatoes were dug up from 95.3% of planted areas (99.3% as of November 1, 2021), vegetables were harvested from 92.3% of crops (94%).

In farms of all categories (agricultural organizations, farmers, the population), according to the statistics of the statistical service, 151.3 million tons of grain were harvested in the originally recorded weight, 10.1 million tons of sunflower seeds, 29.4 million tons of sugar beet were accumulated, 17.9 million tons potatoes, harvested 12.3 million tons of vegetables. Grains were threshed by 26.3% more than a year ago. Sunflower seeds and sugar beets received less by 30.5% and 8.6%, respectively. The harvest of potatoes increased by 2.5%, vegetables - by 0.1% against the level of the previous year.

As in previous years, the main share of grain (68.6%), sugar beet (91.0%) and sunflower (63.1%) is grown in agricultural organizations; potatoes (65.1%) and vegetables (52.8%) - in households. Peasant (private) farms collected 30.3% of the total grain harvest, sunflower seeds - 36.4%, sugar beet - 8.9%, vegetables - 19.6%. As of November 1, 2022, winter crops for grain in agricultural organizations were sown on 9.5 million hectares for next year’s harvest, which is 3.4% less than in the previous year. The plowing was plowed on 14.7 million hectares compared to 16.8 million hectares on the same date in 2021.

At the end of October 2022, the number of cattle in the farms of all agricultural producers, according to calculations, amounted to 18 million heads (1.6% less compared to the corresponding date of the previous year), of which 7.8 million cows (by 1.1 % less), pigs - 28.3 million (4.5% more), sheep and goats - 21.9 million heads (1.1% less). In the structure of livestock, households accounted for 38.9% of cattle, 7.3% of pigs, 44.9% of sheep and goats (as of the end of October 2021 - 39.5%, 8.4% and 46.2 % respectively ).

Egg and milk production

Egg production in Russia in January-October 2022 in farms of all categories increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 38.7 billion eggs, milk - by 1.3%, to 27.9 million tons, according to the materials of Rosstat.

During this period, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight increased by 3.5%, to 12.7 million tons.

In October, egg production in Russia increased by 2.4% compared to the same period in 2021, to 3.9 billion pieces, milk - by 3%, to 2.7 million tons. At the same time, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter increased by 2.1%, to 1.5 million tons.
