Production of agricultural goods in Russia continued its upward trend in February 2021.

According to the Russian Federal State Statistic Service's preliminary estimate, agricultural production volume amounted to 214.5 billion roubles. This is an increase of 10.5% compared to January and 0.6% compared to the same period in 2020. Production has also increased by 0.6% compared to the first two months of 2020, to 395.3 billion roubles.

Livestock production was the key driver of the growth. The gross milk production amounted to 2.2 million tons (+0.9%) in January-February, due to increased dairy herd productivity in agricultural organisations (+3.5%) in particular. As of the beginning of March, livestock feed availability was 1.4% higher than the same period last year. This enabled an increase in weight gain of 1.9%.

The positive results of the first two months of the year are driven by investment projects in the agricultural sector and the systematic improvement of state support measures. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia estimates the current situation on the food market as stable and expects the industry to develop positively in 2021.
