Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeyev adheres to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for the collection of grain this year, which implies a harvest of 118 million tons. “Naturally, we have the same forecasts with the Ministry of Agriculture,” Gordeyev told Interfax.
At the same time, he added that it is too early to make more accurate forecasts. "There are some fears, but only because of the weather," he said and noted, "as usual, our main enemy is drought, but so far Roshydromet does not provide any critical weather forecasts, so the forecast on yield remains the same."
Gordeyev also believes that this year the country's agrarian complex will succeed in reaching positive indicators. "We will have growth. And what is especially important - it will be in animal husbandry sector," said the deputy prime minister, noting that exports of animal products have already been debugged.
"Now it is necessary to develop the export of new types of products, which will make it possible in general to increase the export of agricultural products and foodstuffs," he said.
In 2018, agricultural production in the Russian Federation decreased by 0.6%.
