The food index has increased by 27% in the world in 12 months. The price increase was a record for the last 40 years. The founder and CEO of INFOLine information and analytical agency Ivan Fedyakov reported this.
‘Prices manage to break through previously unattainable values. Over the past year, the food index in the world has risen by 27%. This is one of the most dynamic price increases since the 1970s. Then the price level was about the same, but then it was due to global financial changes,’ he said.
According to him, the prices of different goods are interconnected. After all, the cost of not only vegetables, fruit and milk is growing, but also the one of feed and fertilizers. As a result, all this starts a spiral of growth.
According to Fedyakov's forecast, prices will continue to rise further. However, he noticed that the purchasing power is not unlimited. Sooner or later, a level will be fixed above which prices should not rise.
Earlier it became known that prices for fast food have risen in Russia over the past nine months.
