The success of the further development of Russian agriculture will “to a decisive extent depend” on the introduction of modern digital technologies into the industry. According to RBC, experts from the consulting company Yakov and Partners reported this in their study.
According to them, such a process will increase the productivity of work in the agricultural sector by 15.6 percent "cumulatively". However, for what period such a result can be obtained, they did not specify. At the same time, the company calculated that by 2030 digitalization will increase agricultural production by three to five percent, depending on the type of enterprise, reduce costs by 5 to 20 percent and increase annual revenue growth by at least 800 billion rubles. However, the head of the company, Oleg Shenderyuk, noted that in order to obtain such results, it is necessary to focus on those modern solutions that will provide a synergistic effect at all stages of agricultural production. This means that they will have to solve several problems at the same time.
Analysts noted that international experience confirms the relationship between the success of agriculture in the world and the introduction of modern digital technologies. At the same time, they compared the successes in this direction of Russia and some foreign (including more advanced) countries. According to them, in our country the level of digitalization is higher than in India and even China, but it is 1.7 times lower than in France, two or more than in Germany and Brazil. Experts named the United States, Australia and Canada as leaders in terms of digital development of the agro-industrial complex. However, in terms of infrastructure development, Russia's lag behind a number of other countries, according to them, is not so significant. In addition, analysts named possible negative factors due to which our country will not be able to fully realize the potential of digitalization. This is a weak introduction of the necessary technologies, a shortage of specialists in this area, and also if the state focuses only on modernization without helping farmers to develop production itself.
The experts also compiled two scenarios for the development of technological modernization in Russia by 2030. The first, conservative one, assumes that large Russian agricultural holdings will maintain a low level of digitalization, while the state continues to focus on the use of control tools. In this case, our country will remain in the same place in the ranking of countries for the digitalization of the industry. The second, a quick transition, involves the creation of numerous support services for farmers, thanks to which Russia can outperform France in the ranking.
