“Even such a relatively small increase in turkey meat production volumes made it possible to partially compensate for the decrease in broiler meat production observed in the second half of last year,” analysts note.

Despite the significant increase in production costs, estimated at an industry average of 17%, selling prices for turkey meat showed a lower increase in price than for other types of meat, the agency added.

Earlier, the National Association of Turkey Producers (NAPI) noted that at the end of last year, prices for turkey products showed the smallest increase in the entire meat group. If in October last year the average price of broiler chicken from producers, according to Rosselkhozbank analysts, was 51% higher than in October 2022 (143 rubles/kg in 2022 versus 215 rubles/kg in 2023), then the increase average prices for turkey products were almost three times lower - by only 13.9% (270 rubles/kg in 2022 versus 307 rubles/kg in 2023).

According to the calculations of Agrifood Strategies and NAPI forecasts, in 2024 the volume of turkey production in Russia will increase by at least 5%. An even more significant breakthrough is expected in 2025 with the launch of new production sites already established in a number of regions of the country.

“Further development of the industry will be stimulated by growing consumer demand for turkey meat and supplies abroad,” analysts note.

Russian turkey meat accounts for up to 80% of import supplies in China and the UAE, over half of the import market in Saudi Arabia.

“In total, supplies of Russian meat and highly processed turkey products go to 29 countries,” the agency added.

Agrifood Strategies believes that, taking into account the planned trends, by 2030 Russia will reach turkey meat production levels of at least 600–650 thousand tons.

The agency also presented a rating of the largest Russian turkey meat producers. The top 5 included GC Damate, GC Cherkizovo, the merged Soyuzpromptitsa and PC Ural, GC Ruskom and Agro-plus. The five largest companies today account for about 83.5% of the total turkey meat production in the country.
