The Belgorod region ranks third in the Russian Federation in terms of total output. The Voronezh Region ranks fifth, and the Lipetsk Region ranks 12th. Elena Nikitina, deputy head of the Rosselkhoznadzor department for the Voronezh, Belgorod and Lipetsk regions, spoke about this.
According to Nikitina, all three regions served by the department are regions with developed agricultural production.
"The Belgorod region may be described as the meat capital, the Lipetsk region - as a region in which the crop industry is developed, and the Voronezh region - with a developed dairy industry." - Elena Nikitina.
In terms of total output produced, the Belgorod Region ranks third in the Russian rating. The Voronezh region is fifth, and the Lipetsk region is 12th. The total potential for the production of agricultural products is estimated at 642 billion rubles.
“This is a significant contribution to the economy of the Russian Federation. Controlling the circulation and movement of such products requires our close attention.” - Elena Nikitina.
Nikitina also noted that all three regions are the most vulnerable in terms of biological and food security. Historically, the migration routes of wild animals and birds pass through the territory of the three regions. Including the risks of the Belgorod region are directly related to the proximity of the border.
“We have a large number of farm animals and birds concentrated in a relatively small area. In the event of the introduction of a dangerous disease, the risks of significantly losing or completely losing the pig and poultry industry are difficult to overestimate. Therefore, the main tasks of the Rosselkhoznadzor department are the proper organization of work in a difficult geopolitical situation in order to minimize the risks of introducing dangerous quarantine diseases for both animals and plants.” - Elena Nikitina.
