President of Crocus Group Aras Agalarov told in an interview with RBC why food prices are rising. According to him, this is not someone's will, but "the market has just developed this way." He also mentioned an increase in the cost of fertilizers and fuel among the reasons. The businessman is sure that the practice of regulating food prices in Russia is senseless. Earlier, Agalarov criticized the low pensions and salaries of the population.

According to the entrepreneur, the increase in food prices is not a cartel of networks.

"There is a lot of competition in food, we all compete with each other - Globus, Auchan, Tvoy Dom, so there can be no cartel collusion. Who will negotiate with whom?’ said Agalarov.

He clarified that about 200-300 items of goods in retail have a small margin of 10%. For example, if the retail chain buys sugar from suppliers at 20 rubles per kilogram, it sells it at 22 rubles. Agalarov added that manufacturers "are not able to artificially inflate the price."

‘Why is the price actually going up? Because fertilizers are rising in price, fuel and other transportation costs are rising, wages costs are rising. If prices go up in the retail chain - it is not someone's will, the market has developed this way,’ said the president of Crocus Group.

In his opinion, instead of regulating prices, it is necessary to increase social support in Russia. Then trade turnover and budget revenues will increase, and "the economy will grow."

Earlier, the billionaire stated that housing prices in Russia are rising due to a shortage of living space, and not because of a preferential mortgage. In his opinion, not enough houses are being built in the country, while some facilities are decaying and falling into disrepair. Therefore, if enough housing were built, then it would not be bought and sold "at such a price: nowhere - neither in Moscow nor in the region.’

The "Secret" also told how Agalarov criticized low pensions and salaries. In his opinion, they are the ones that slow down the development of the Russian economy.
