Bolivia intends to begin supplying llama meat to the Russian market. According to RIA Novosti, the head of the Bolivian service for phytosanitary control and food safety, Javier Suarez, spoke about this.
According to him, this issue was discussed at a meeting with the Russian delegation. He also said that the corresponding request was sent to the Russian side, and it promised to consider it as soon as possible and give its response.
Suarez explained that this meat product is of high quality and low in cholesterol. Also, according to him, in the Latin American country there are about four million animals of the camelid family, including not only llamas, but also alpacas and some others. The head of the service noted that such a number will allow the republic to satisfy not only domestic, but also export needs for the meat of these animals.
There has not yet been any official information from Rosselkhoznadzor about one or another stage of negotiations on this matter with Bolivian colleagues.
