In the first half of 2022, Russia saw high rates of chicken meat production and low demand before the start of autumn. As a result, wholesale poultry prices have fallen to levels that are lower than at the end of August 2021. Market participants remain profitable as feed grain prices are low. True, in the future the trend may result in a reduction in investment inflows into the industry.
So, for example, in the Central part of Russia, from August 22 to 28, wholesale prices for a broiler carcass fell by one and a half percent. Now a kilogram of broiler carcasses costs one hundred and thirty-six rubles, and not one hundred and forty, as in the same period last year. Kommersant writes about this, citing monitoring data from the National Union of Poultry Breeders.
Since July 2021, wholesale prices for broiler carcasses have been getting higher and higher month by month. The NSP did not give any further comments on this matter. Meanwhile, the dynamics was confirmed by Trust-Poultry Assets Management Company. The company believes that the production of animal proteins has increased - chicken and pork. According to the results of the first half of this year, the Russian Federation produced 5.8% more poultry meat (2.5 million tons) and 5.7% more pork meat (2.1 million tons).
Be that as it may, the downward trend in prices for a broiler carcass at the end of August is not typical. Growing volumes of meat supply have a restraining effect on prices. The second half of August and the first half of September is a difficult period for the meat market. People switch to seasonal vegetables, save money by collecting children for school.
