U.S. magazine WATT Poultry International has published its rating of the world’s largest broiler producers. Cherkizovo Group (Petelinka, Kurinoe Tsarstvo) came 28th, the highest position among Russian companies.
The Top 50 featured three Russian broiler producers – Cherkizovo Group, Resource Group and Prioskolie. With a capacity of 318 million heads per year, Cherkizovo Group took 28th place, while Resource Group and Prioskolie were ranked 31st and 49th, respectively. Brazilian JBS held the top spot, boasting a slaughter capacity of 4 billion broilers per year. This is almost twice as much as the United States’ Tyson Foods, which finished second with a capacity of 1.6 billion heads per year.
“Our performance in the WATT Poultry International ranking is yet another proof of our leadership in the Russian poultry market. Going forward, in line with the Group’s development strategy, we will focus on boosting our poultry production to ramp up sales both domestically and abroad,” said Sergey Mikhailov, CEO of Cherkizovo Group.
Previously, Cherkizovo Group topped the National Union of Poultry Farmers’ 2019 list of Russian chicken meat producers. According to this ranking, the Group produced 766 thousand tonnes of live-weight meat, posting the highest incremental growth among its Russian peers – 145 thousand tonnes per year.
