Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, is helping to provide food aid to underprivileged people from the Voronezh Region.

This week, Cherkizovo Group joined a charity initiative to supply food parcels to low-income households in the Voronezh Region. Regional meat, bread, sunflower oil, dairy, cereal and other food producers all agreed to contribute to the cause. Cherkizovo itself donated over 8,600 smoked sausages. These sausages will be added to food parcels and delivered to the vulnerable citizens specified by the Voronezh Region Department of Social Protection.

The idea was coined by Alexei Gordeyev, ex-Governor of the Voronezh Region and current Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. “Mr Gordeyev’s initiative, supported by me personally, the regional government, the business community, dozens of non-profit organizations and volunteers, demonstrates the public's deep compassion for those in need. Dozens of people working together to support others shows the power of community spirit and cooperation. I am sure that such consolidated efforts from the authorities, businesses and the community will help us further provide timely and valuable aid to those who need it most,” said Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region.

“In these unprecedented times, we could not turn a blind eye to the call for help from the Voronezh Region, a highly important area for the Group’s operations. We are currently involved in similar food aid initiatives in other regions across Russia and continue to work closely with their leaders. Such cooperation between the government and business is essential for supporting low-income households, who might not be able to provide for themselves,” said Anastasia Mikhailova, Head of Government and Public Relations at Cherkizovo Group.

Cherkizovo Group supports people on lockdown in a variety of ways. Previously, the Company joined #МыВместе, a campaign to support vulnerable senior citizens, run by the All-Russia People’s Front, with support from the Roscongress Foundation, volunteer groups, and Rostelecom. Through its donations, the Group helped provide essential supplies to people with reduced mobility living in self-isolation and to the volunteers who support them. Anyone can take part in this campaign. More details are available at мывместе2020.рф.
