At the end of last year, China turned out to be the main buyer of Russian beef and poultry meat. Such data from the Argus federal information system belonging to Rosselkhoznadzor was presented at a round table during the 31st international exhibition Prodexpo-2024 by assistant to the head of the department Artyom Daushev.

According to them, purchases of this meat amounted to 21,500 and 132,900 tons. The service representative provided similar statistics for other types of meat for several other countries. In particular, Iran purchased 10,300 tons of lamb. The largest importers of pork were Belarus and Vietnam with volumes of 78,800 and 85,100 tons, respectively. Let us also recall that last month the PRC allowed access to its market for this type of meat. A little later, specific Russian manufacturers became known and expressed a desire to begin supplying these products to Beijing. Among them are the Miratorg agricultural holding and the large company Sibagro. It is possible that thanks to these supplies, China will be able to overtake the two above-mentioned countries in pork imports this year. And Kazakhstan purchased the most finished meat products – 48,900 tons.

In general, according to Daushev, over the past year, 16 countries allowed the supply of 47 types of Russian livestock products. In particular, supplies grew most actively to all countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, three from Asia (Vietnam, China and Mongolia) and two each from Africa and the Middle East (Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates). He did not specify specific types of products and volumes of supplies for each of these states. It should be noted that the markets of all these countries remain priorities for Russian exporters of all types of meat products. The main factors for successful exports, the assistant to the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, named compliance with the requirements of foreign countries, enhanced control of the quality and safety of exported products and an increase in the level of biological safety at the relevant livestock enterprises, as well as high-quality elaboration of materials provided in response to a request from a foreign competent authority and maintaining the proper level of work of Russian information systems in the field of veterinary medicine.
