As of December 1 of this year, 42% of the entire industrial livestock population in the country was insured in Russia, which became a historical maximum. In certain areas - pig farming and poultry farming - the coverage of the insured livestock exceeded 60%, said the President of the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NAA) Korney Bizhdov, summing up the results of the outgoing year.

“An important result of 2023 was the insurance of more than 18% of the industrial cattle population, which was also largely the result of incentive measures by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in this direction,” emphasized Korney Bizhdov.

He recalled that this year there were record payments in livestock farming for the entire history of domestic agricultural insurance. The RSHB-Insurance company compensated the Voronezh agricultural holding 916 million rubles, and AlfaStrakhovanie paid another agricultural enterprise 850 million rubles. Both payments were for the loss of pig stock.

Agricultural insurance remains among the five priority areas of state support for the next year. “The task of the agricultural insurance system is to protect agricultural production in all its areas. In 2024, NSA will continue to develop and improve the insurance protection system for the domestic agro-industrial complex. The main objectives of the union for the next year will be to further improve the quality of insurance services, including optimizing standard procedures for maintaining contracts and settling losses, as well as developing new insurance programs,” added Korney Bizhdov.
