The press center of the Damate group of companies reports that within the framework of the project for the insemination of sheep, the holding's service center signed contracts with 28 farmers of the North Caucasus Federal District.
The cooperation of the Damate group of companies with rural entrepreneurs and farms of the Stavropol Territory of Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Dagestan is aimed at improving the genetic fund of sheep in the North Caucasus. It is formed on the basis of contracts involving a number of services related to genetics and selection: sales of breeding animals' semen, stud sheep and veterinary drugs, consulting support and training of farmers. Specialists have already carried out about 7,000 sheep insemination operations and are waiting for the first results.
Leonid Khanukaev, head of the Lamb branch of the Damate group of companies, noted that the employees of the Damate breeding center have solid experience in breeding work with small ruminants and are actively developing this line of business. And here an extremely important role is played by cooperation with farmers in four regions of the North Caucasus, aimed at improving the efficiency of sheep breeding. Combining the knowledge of breeders who study the latest scientific achievements and the centuries-old traditions of Caucasian sheep breeding creates a reliable basis for guaranteed high results, he added.
The principle of selection is the crossing of sheep of local breeds with the best breeding animals of the meat direction of productivity. Producers were purchased from foreign breeders. The first experiments showed that the resulting offspring quickly gains weight, has pronounced meat qualities, gives a greater slaughter yield of the carcass and differs from the previous generation in higher fecundity. To date, there are 400 individuals of elite meat breeds in the Damate breeding fund. The core is Dorper, Ile de France, Texel, Zwartbles and Charolais.
The specialists of the Damate service company are fluent in two progressive and economically advantageous methods of small cattle insemination: laparoscopic and visocervical. Within the framework of 28 concluded contracts, farmers will be provided with insemination services for 15,000 sheep.
Before the procedures, the partners of the service center are given the opportunity to choose the breed of the sire. So that they can easily determine their needs, consultants provide farmers with comprehensive information about the productive characteristics of the breeds. This approach maximizes the effectiveness of cooperation with each farm.
