Kazakhstan citizens began to buy meat less. The regions report a sharp drop in demand. Sellers say that the goods are almost spoiled on the shelves, buyers visit stores less and less.
At one of the largest markets in Uralsk, buyers are greeted by long-bored sellers. There is an offer for every taste and money, but there is practically no demand. Sellers say they have forgotten such a weak trade for a long time. After lunch, traders begin to put the meat in the refrigerator to wait for the buyers.
According to the sellers, this has never happened before. And the reason is simple. Prices are rising, people can afford meat less and less.
Officials say: when feed and logistics become more expensive, it is strange to expect a drop in price. And now, during the slaughtering season, there is a lot of meat in the markets, but the peasants cannot give it away for next to nothing.
The situation is similar in the north of the country. They sell beef at 2,500, pork at 1,600 tenge per kilogram. But even for that kind of money, meat is too expensive for buyers. Sellers claim that they are forced to work at a loss. Suppliers are constantly raising purchase prices. But to sell a product, one has to concede or even give it away at cost, so that one does not have to throw it away.
Livestock breeders say they would be greatly helped by subsidies for the delivery of feed. But despite the high cost of feed and bad weather conditions, the volume of production in the country did not decrease but increased. This year, the production of meat was almost 6% more than last year.
