Dmitry Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture of Russia, and Kazem Khavazi, Minister of Agriculture Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran, discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector.

According to Dmitry Patrushev, agricultural trade between the countries has shown positive dynamics in recent years, and there is potential for further increase in turnover. Agricultural products account for over 80% of all Russian exports to Iran.

Cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary inspection became another topic of discussion. Russian producers now can supply products of animal origin to Iran due to the countries' joint work. In particular, 34 domestic companies are able to export raw meat to Iran. Thus, increasing exports of Russian mutton became promising. Countries continue to expand the list of supplied products. Specifically, Russia expects to receive veterinary and sanitary requirements for dairy and finished meat products shortly.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was potential areas for expanding cooperation. The implementation of joint projects in the agricultural sector, in particular, will contribute to the development of long-term cooperation.
