The Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki.

The parties discussed the prospects for Russian-Japanese cooperation in agriculture.

Agricultural trade between the countries is developing despite the current restrictions.

“In the first 11 months of the year, commodity turnover has increased by 6% and amounted to approximately 315 million dollars. Fish products account for the majority of Russian exports to Japan with over 60%. I would like to emphasise that we are interested in diversifying the commodity turnover, primarily with cereals, meat, dairy, and poultry,” Dmitry Patrushev said.

As part of the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in expanding trade in cereals and livestock products, and establishing direct deliveries of fish and seafood. Concluding the discussion, Dmitriy Patrushev expressed his gratitude for the constructive dialogue and his hope for the development of a strong cooperation in agriculture between the two countries.
