The increase in meat production in Russia in 2022 was the highest in five years, the pig industry showed the maximum increase. By 2025, the positive dynamics will continue, and manufacturers will have to refocus on exports.
Experts predict an increase in pork production to 4,631 thousand tons by 2025. In a message at the international forum “AGRO.PROM. Poultry farming. Pig breeding”, experts also predicted that by 2025, 2209 thousand tons of pork from all produced will be sent for deep processing - canned food, sausages, semi-finished products.
The increase in meat production in Russia in 2022 was the highest in five years and amounted to plus 5% compared to 2021, Rosselkhoznadzor reports. In many respects, this increase was due to an increase in pork production by 7-8% - in total, more than 5.2 million tons of pork were produced.
Russia already produces more meat than the population needs, experts say. Producers will have to refocus on exports, as well as increase the volume of deep processing of pork. Imit experts predict that one of the trends in the development of the pig breeding industry for 2025 will be the development of their own slaughter and deep processing workshops, with individual enterprises processing up to 100% of the animals raised. On average, about half of the pork produced is sent for processing - in 2022, this is almost 2 million tons of pork from the total volume produced.
