In two years, the meat shortage in Uzbekistan may exceed 90%, and the problem of milk shortage will also become acute. The reason for this prospect is the lack of food supply for animals, despite the increase in agricultural land.

By 2025, a total shortage of meat may occur in Uzbekistan - its shortage will be 92.5%, the shortage of milk is projected at 70%. The main problem lies in the insufficient development of the forage base.

In Uzbekistan, the population is increasing annually and meat consumption is growing, in two years per capita will account for 54.8 kg of meat per year. Today, the production of fodder necessary for animal husbandry is not enough in the republic; in order to improve the situation this year, fodder areas will be increased to 430 thousand hectares, 12% of the area will be sown with fodder crops. It is planned to harvest 300 centners of crop per hectare, such tasks are facing the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant departments.

At present, the area of fodder crops in Uzbekistan is 2.5 times lower than in 1991. Then fodder was grown on 1065.7 thousand hectares. Then the acreage began to decline. The first growth in the area of fodder crops in the post-Soviet period occurred only in 2010.
