In 2021, the production of poultry eggs in farms of all categories (data on agricultural organizations, peasant farms and households) amounted to 44,893.4 million pieces. Over the year (by 2020), it has not changed significantly, over 5 years it has grown by 3.2% (by 1,379.0 million units).
In January-September 2022, egg production in farms of all categories amounted to 34,817.6 million eggs, which, according to AB-Center, is 2.2% (749.5 million eggs) more than in the same period of 2021.
Egg production in Russia by category of farms
The main volume is produced in the industrial sector of poultry farming, namely in agricultural organizations. There is an increase here.
The volumes in peasant farms, which are also part of the industrial sector, are small. In modern conditions, commercial production is economically feasible mainly in large forms of management.
Also in relatively large sizes, eggs of agricultural birds are produced in the non-commercial sector - farms of the population. However, here the figures are declining year by year.
Agricultural organizations. In 2021, the production of eggs in agricultural organizations of all types amounted to 36,456.9 million eggs, which is 0.5% (168.1 million eggs) more than in 2020. Over 5 years, production increased by 5.6% (by 1,939.4 million units).
In January-September 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, egg production, according to the calculations of AB-Center, increased by 3.1% (by 833.0 million eggs) and amounted to 28,084.2 million eggs.
In October 2022, agricultural organizations (large, medium and small) produced 3,215.9 million chicken eggs. This is significantly more than was produced in September this year (3,119.0 million units) and in October last year (3,064.7 million units).
Peasant farms. In 2021, egg production in peasant farms amounted to 517.1 million eggs, which is 7.1% (39.3 million eggs) less than in 2020. Over 5 years, production increased by 14.5% (by 65.4 million units).
In January-September 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, egg production increased by 5.2% (by 19.5 million eggs) and amounted to 395.2 million eggs.
Households of the population. The production of eggs in households was at the level of 7,919.4 million pieces. Over the year (by 2020) it decreased by 1.8% (by 144.4 million units), over 5 years - by 7.3% (by 625.8 million units). In January-September 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, the volumes decreased by 1.6% (by 103.0 million units) and amounted to 6,338.2 million units.
Rating of the TOP-10 regions of Russia in terms of egg production in 2022
Below is a ranking of regions for the production of eggs, taking into account data for all categories of farms.
1. The region with the highest production of poultry eggs in 2021, as before, is the Leningrad Region. The volume of production in the region amounted to 3,488.3 million units (7.8% of the total production in the Russian Federation). Over the year, it increased by 8.9% (by 284.7 million units).
2. Yaroslavl region (in 2022, 2,136.2 million eggs were produced here, 4.8% of the total production in the Russian Federation).
3. Belgorod region (1,621.6 million units, 3.6%).
4. Sverdlovsk region (1,596.3 million units, 3.6%).
5. Chelyabinsk region (1,593.5 million units, 3.5%).
6. Republic of Mordovia (1,555.3 million pieces, 3.5%).
7. Republic of Tatarstan (1,512.8 million pieces, 3.4%).
8. Krasnodar Territory (1,475.2 million units, 3.3%).
9. Tyumen region (1,438.8 million units, 3.2%).
10. Perm Territory (1,391.5 million pieces, 3.1%).
The production volume of chicken eggs in other regions amounted to 27,083.9 million pieces (60.3% of the total production volume).
Wholesale prices for chicken eggs
Wholesale prices (producer prices) for a chicken egg in Russia in October 2022 amounted to 55.2 RUB / dozen without VAT, which, according to AB-Center, is 10.1% more than in September 2022. Over the year, prices fell by 1.1%.
The weakening of prices compared to the year is largely due to a significant increase in production volumes.
At the highest levels in October 2022, prices were in the Far Eastern Federal District (68.2 RUB / dozen), at the lowest levels - in the North Caucasus Federal District (47.6 RUB / dozen).
The TOP-10 regions with the highest wholesale prices (selling prices of agricultural producers) for a chicken egg, as of October 2022, included: Magadan Region, Chukotka Autonomous District, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Sakhalin Region, Ryazan Region, Republic of Tatarstan, Vladimir region, Belgorod region, Tyumen region.
The lowest prices were observed in the following regions of Russia: Kurgan Region, Omsk Region, Pskov Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Volgograd Region, Republic of Bashkortostan, Orenburg Region, Arkhangelsk Region, Stavropol Territory, Altai Territory.
Retail prices for chicken eggs
In October 2022, retail prices for a chicken egg in Russia, according to Rosstat, were at the level of 78.2 RUB/ten, which is 7.3% more than in September 2022. Over the year, compared to October 2021, they decreased by 1.9%.
According to operational data, the average retail prices for a chicken egg in Russia, as of December 05, 2022, amounted to 80.1 RUB / dozen. Over the week they grew by 0.7%, over the month - by 1.8%. Over the year, by the same date in 2021, chicken egg prices have weakened by 6.2%.
The highest prices for a chicken egg, as of the monitoring date, were observed in the Far Eastern Federal District (103.4 RUB / dozen), the lowest - in the Volga Federal District (69.6 RUB / dozen).
