In the first half of this year, the number of ransomware attacks on Russian retail by 45%. This was reported by Kommersant to the data of the Informzaschita company.
At the same time, Group-IB experts estimate the growth of attacks on this segment even higher. According to the company, their number has quadrupled compared to the first half of 2021, the newspaper writes.
Positive Technologies clarified that large supermarket chains and marketplaces are at the greatest risk, losing profit due to a stop in sales and ready to pay a ransom to attackers for a speedy restoration of work.
“Intruders exploit vulnerabilities on the perimeter and web resources of companies, as well as unprotected services that organizations, through negligence or oversight, published outside,” explained Alexey Pavlov, Business Development Director of the Solar JSOC Cyber Attack Center at RTK-Solar.
In addition, experts note that the amount of ransom is growing. So, in 2021 it did not exceed 30 million rubles, and this year they demand up to 100 million rubles for unlocking the resource, Kommersant reports.
In early July, Russians were massively attacked with automatic redirection from legal online shopping sites to fraudulent portals, Daria Ivanova, a cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab, told Izvestia.
According to her, more than 5,000 websites have been infected with the malicious script, and at least 35,000 people have encountered this script. Ivanova noted that deceptions in online sales became relevant when retailers leaving Russia began to sell goods through online platforms. At the same time, online stores have not recorded a surge in fraudulent sites exploiting their brands.
