In 2019, it is expected that Russia will export 250 thousand tons of poultry meat, which is 40% more compared to the previous year. This is the forecast of Sergey Lakhtyukhov, general director of the Russian Union of Poultry Producers.

The expert said that duck meat producers made a significant contribution to the increase in foreign sales. "Duck meat has a strong export potential in Russian poultry. It is a premium product in regions such as the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in Asia, namely China. These countries have shown interest in importing duck meat from Russia," Lakhtyukhov notes.

This year, Russia signed a trade agreement with China on the export of poultry meat. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture previously predicted that poultry exports to China in 2019 would be about $ 100,000,000. Over the past few years, Russia has been constantly increasing poultry exports - from 100 thousand tons in 2017 to 183 thousand tons in 2018.

Andrei Dalnov, senior analyst at Cherkizovo, Russia's largest meat producer, said Russia will be able to export 45,000 - 50,000 tons of poultry meat to China this year.

"In the coming years, exports are likely to grow to 150 thousand tons per year, due to the supply of products such as chicken legs, which in Russia are usually considered waste, but are in demand in Asia," Mr. Dalnov said.
