In 2023, exports of meat and meat products from Russia could reach $2 billion, which is 17.5% higher than the figure for 2022. This forecast was presented by the president of ABH Miratorg, Viktor Linnik, at the plenary session of the thematic Day of Agriculture as part of the exhibition-forum "Russia".
According to experts, in 2023, exports of meat and meat products from Russia will grow to 800 thousand tons, which is 109 thousand tons more than in 2022. At the same time, imports of meat and meat products to Russia will increase to 640 thousand tons.
The growth in Russian meat exports is due to a number of factors, including:
- increasing the number of livestock and poultry in the country;
- improving the quality and safety of domestic meat products;
- expansion of the geography of export supplies;
- state support for exporters.
The main importers of Russian meat are China, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Vietnam. Meat exports to these countries, as well as to other regions of the world, are expected to increase in 2023.
The increase in meat imports to Russia is due to the growing demand for meat products in the country. In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the consumption of meat and meat products in Russia, which is due to the growing welfare of the population, changing eating habits and the development of fast food chains.
In general, forecasts for meat exports and imports to Russia for 2023 are positive. It is expected that meat exports from Russia will continue to grow, while meat imports into the country will also increase, but their growth will not be as significant.
