Pig production is positioned as the main driver of growth in Russian meat production.
In 2020, Russian pig production increased by 8.9% to 5.5 million tons live weight. During the first three months of this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, this figure has reached 1.3 million tons (+ 0.5%).
The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts an increase in the production of pork products by more than 4% in 2021.
Russia has exceeded the target indicator for pork self-sufficiency, which allows it to send the surplus abroad and annually increase export volumes.
