Head of the National Meat Association Yushin: poultry prices in Russia will remain about the same.
Poultry meat prices will remain approximately the same for the time being - such a forecast was given by the head of the National Meat Association Sergey Yushin on Sputnik radio.
According to him, the prices for chicken meat today are lower than a year earlier.
"In general, the prices for the main parts of the chicken carcass - both for the drumstick, and for the thigh, and so on - today are noticeably lower than a year ago. In principle, our carcass has not risen in price since the beginning of the year," Yushin noted.
He clarified that there was a surge in prices in early spring, after which the situation calmed down and has been absolutely stable in recent months, so there is no need to worry about a possible price increase. "There are no reasons for serious growth at this stage, prices for poultry meat will remain approximately at the same levels in the future," Yushin emphasized.
This is now a long-term trend, he said.
“It is noteworthy that five to seven years ago, prices for chicken carcasses were about the same as they are today. The increase in production and the struggle to reduce its cost are yielding results, and the potential is still very large,” said the head of the National Meat Association.
Turkey meat is also becoming more affordable, the expert pointed out.
“In the first half of the year, the production of turkey increased by 20 percent, which is becoming an increasingly popular type of meat, partially replacing beef. Therefore, prices for turkey are also gradually becoming more affordable,” Yushin said.
