Yuri Kovalev, Director General of the National Union of Pig Producers, told about the key challenges that will affect the development of the domestic pig industry in 2019 in the Ministry of Agriculture. 

Thus, a significant (60-80%) increase in the price of grain will lead to an increase in the cost of production of pig production by 10-15%. Wholesale prices will decrease by 5-10% due to the continued growth in the supply of pork to the market (160 thousand tons of additional production + 80-100 thousand tons of additional imports from Brazil).

The state and business are stepping up joint work to open the markets of Southeast Asia, above all China. All possible measures will be taken to eradicate the ASF virus. In addition, the regulatory framework will be improved to reduce the severity of the problematic issues that emerged in 2018 in waste management enterprises.
