Deliveries of foreign cattle genetic material to Russia are growing. This is evidenced by the data of the Federal Customs Service (FCS), reports News.ru. Last year Russia imported foreign bovine semen  valued $ 13.5 million, which is 31% more than in 2017 in value terms and 23% in  volume (2.8 tons). In three months of this year domestic agricultural companies have already imported 156.2 liters of bull sperm worth $ 1.5 million, and half of the supply came from the United States.

The genetic material comes to the Russian Federation also from Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Great Britain, Belarus and other countries. It is curious that the export of this product continues to come from America, despite the sharp deterioration in relations between Washington and Moscow.  Nevertheless, over the past two years, the supplies of American bovine genetic material to Russia has more than doubled - to 2.3 tons ($ 8.1 million).

The export of domestic bovine semen in 2018 was focused on the post-Soviet space: Kazakhstan ($ 92.5 thousand), Belarus ($ 72.6 thousand), Uzbekistan ($ 29.3 thousand), Azerbaijan ($ 11 thousand). Ukraine is also an important market for genetic material from the Russian Federation. In 2016, this country received 108.7 liters ($ 12,000), in 2017 - 263 liters ($ 30.3 thousand), in 2018 - 72.8 liters ($ 52.2 thousand).
