In 2022, production growth is expected in all major areas of the agro-industrial complex. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut at a meeting with members of the All-Russian public organization "Business Russia", writes  the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

She told business representatives about the priorities of the agency's work on the development of the agro-industrial complex, state support for agricultural producers and regulation of the food market, and also answered questions from the participants of the event.

According to the First Deputy Minister, the Russian agro-industrial complex was largely ready for the conditions that have developed this year. Key indices of agricultural production annually show systematic growth. At the end of 2022, an increase in indicators in all major areas is also expected.

Russia currently produces more basic crops and foodstuffs than it consumes. This creates the prerequisites for strengthening the country's influence in foreign markets.

At the same time, in a number of areas it is necessary to accelerate the growth of production - these are, first of all, vegetables, melons and potatoes. To do this, the Ministry of Agriculture will launch a separate federal project in 2023. In addition, the department will continue to stimulate greenhouse vegetable growing, which has shown good dynamics in recent years thanks to state support measures. The key issue is also the achievement of food safety indicators for milk and dairy products. To develop this segment, the Ministry will focus on improving the productivity of farm animals in the organized sector.

In addition, the focus is on improving breeding and genetics, providing farmers with competitive domestic seeds and breeding material.

Representatives of "Business Russia" positively assessed the activities of the Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at ensuring the food security of the country. The meeting participants discussed measures of state support for farmers, work in the federal state information system for the traceability of grain and its products, transportation of agricultural products and other topical issues. The Ministry will take into account the proposals made during the event in its future activities.
