Ivan Ivanov, founder and development director of the company Mitless, specializing in the production of plant-based meat, spoke about the prospects of the alternative market during the forum "Intensification of agricultural production and expansion of supply chains" at the Agrorus exhibition, The DairyNews reports.
‘Our company produces 16 SKUs and 1 ton of products per day. In St. Petersburg, we are the only company that produces these products. We plan that sales growth will grow quarterly by 25% and today these forecasts are coming true,’ said Ivan Ivanov.
According to the Daily Storm, there are only about 3 million vegetarians in Russia.
‘This group of people is too small to become the main one for industrial production. There are usually two main groups of motives when people consume plant-based meat - firstly, maximizing the benefits and secondly, minimizing the impact on the environment,’ said Ivan Ivanov.
He noted that in the next two or three years, retail prices for plant-based meat will be equal to animal products, but they may also become lower. According to manufacturers, price parity in Russia may also come in the next 3 years.
