The Russian agricultural agency Rosselkhoznadzor is launching a program to import Indian veterinary drugs. Specialists from the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VGNKI" are already in India to inspect a large exporter of veterinary drugs in the state of Maharashtra. Upon successful completion of the inspection, the company will receive permission to supply a wide range of antibiotics, vitamin premixes, antiparasitic and antihistamines in various dosage forms to Russia.
India is one of the world's largest producers of veterinary drugs. Indian pharmaceutical companies not only meet the demand for animal medicines in Asia and Africa, but also export products to the European Union and CIS countries. Recently, manufacturers from India have demonstrated increased interest in the Russian market and are ready to confirm the compliance of their products with Russian GMP standards.
On September 1, 2023, a law came into force according to which products that do not have a Russian GMP certificate cannot be supplied to Russia. This change led to the unification of requirements for domestic and foreign manufacturers of veterinary drugs.
The appearance of Indian drugs on the Russian market may lead to increased competition and, consequently, lower prices for veterinary drugs. In addition, it will allow farmers and livestock producers to have access to a wider selection of high-quality imported medicines.
Indian manufacturers are ready to confirm the compliance of their products with Russian requirements and adapt them to the specifics of the Russian agricultural market. Such cooperation can be mutually beneficial for both parties and will contribute to the development of livestock farming and veterinary medicine in Russia.
