Japan can lift the ban on the import of Russian chicken. Reports the edition about Nikkei.The reason for the possible lifting of restrictions, the publication calls the desire to meet the growing domestic demand for the product. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are expected to agree on this at the G20 summit in Osaka.
Presumably, the ban will be lifted no earlier than 2020. It is noted that the import will be allowed only for commercial purposes.
Japan bans the import of chicken and other poultry from most countries of the world due to concerns about infectious diseases, the publication adds. At the moment, the largest supplier of the product to the Japanese market is Brazil.
