Based on the results of January of this year, the production of meat and milk increased among all types of livestock products in Russia. This was reported in the Rosstat report on the socio-economic situation in Russia for the first month of this year.

Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) during this period increased by 1.6 percent from the same month last year - to 1.0826 million tons (official data gives the unit of measurement in solid weight - ROSNG). The majority was poultry meat – 534.1 thousand tons (97.1% of January). Their total share among all types of meat was 49.3 percent. 456.9 thousand pork was produced, or 42.2% of all meat. Compared to last January, this is 6.4 percent higher. The remaining 88,200 (+7.1 percent), or 8.1%, came from beef.

Milk production increased by 3.7 percent year on year to 2.3 million tons. However, milk yield per cow in January decreased by 31 kilograms – from 742 to 711.

Egg production also decreased by two percent to 3.7 billion. However, the egg production of laying hens in large agricultural organizations remained at the level of last year - 26 eggs per head. Data on other types of farms are not provided.
