If a taste for rabbit meat appears in the Russian Federation, then along with chicken it will become another “meat for poor”. On August 10, the director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Research of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Alexei Zubets said this to a REGNUM correspondent, commenting on the situation on the Russian market of meat products.

“The turkey develops according to the same laws as the chicken. These are related products. As for rabbit meat, its consumption in the Russian Federation is still small. And it does not exert any serious influence on the Russian market of rabbit meat. And although rabbit meat is inexpensive [in production] meat, there is no taste for it in Russia yet. However, if it does appear, then rabbit meat will be on a par with chicken as cheap meat for the poor. And the situation with its price will develop according to the same laws, ”Zubets said.

We will remind, there are forecasts that by 2022 the production of rabbit meat in the Russian Federation will grow six times.
