Despite the fact that the incomes of the population are not growing, the consumption of meat by the population of the country has increased, the expert noted.

“We have wholesale and retail prices for poultry and pork, and they account for 80% of the consumption of meat and meat products, they are lower than they were last year,” Yushin said.

In Russia, there is a steady decline in prices for broiler meat and pork in the retail market segment. In addition, the number of promotions has increased, when the consumer can buy meat at a big discount. Shares are needed not to sell stale goods, but to increase sales of goods, said the head of the executive committee of the National Meat Association.

The increase in meat consumption was also influenced by the government's increase in targeted assistance to socially vulnerable segments of the population, Yushin said.

Recall that in 2022 Russia reached a record volume of meat production - 11.5 million tons. The production of pork, poultry and mutton increased, but the production of beef decreased.
