Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) published summary information on meat and meat products production in January-May 2019. For the first five months of this year, the volume of meat production in Russia increased by 10.5% compared to the same period in 2018 - to 1.1 million tons. The output of semi-finished products in the reporting period amounted to 1.4 million tons - the volume of their production increased by 11% compared to last year's figure for the same period. Rosstat notes a slight increase in the production of sausages - up to 899 thousand tons (0.2%). The decline in food production can be traced only in the poultry sector. In January-May 2019, the volume of production of meat and poultry by-products decreased by 5.2% compared with the same reporting period of 2018 and amounted to 1.9 million tons.
