 According to REGNUM news agency with reference to the statistics agency of Tajikistan, the number of cattle in the country as of November 1, 2020 amounted to 2.3 million thousand head, which is 0.9% more than a year earlier.

Within January-October of this year, meat production in the republic amounted to 170.8 thousand Mt, which is 5.5% up against the same period of 2019.

Edition “Avesta” notes that meat prices in Tajikistan remain relatively high, so for many families in the country, meat is an unavailable choice. The average beef price is about 53 - 55 somoni ($4.7 - 4.9) per kg, while the average salary in Tajikistan is 1426 somoni (about $126). In other words, the cost of a kilogram of beef is about 4% of the monthly income of the average employee.
