The Ministry of Ecology of the Moscow Region, together with colleagues from other departments, continues to monitor the epizootic situation in the region. This is due to the potential threat of cases of African swine fever (ASF) or avian influenza associated with seasonal migration. This is reported by the Ministry.

So, since the beginning of the year, ASF quarantine has been introduced in Russia in 8 foci, including in the Yaroslavl region close to us, and a focus of highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected in the Stavropol Territory.

"We exercise control over hunting resources – wild boars and birds," explained Tikhon Firsov, Minister of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow Region, quoted in the message. - Since the beginning of the year, 212 samples from wild and synanthropic birds have been studied for avian influenza, that is, those whose habitat conditions are somehow connected with human habitation. No cases of avian influenza have been registered."

According to the ministry from the State Veterinary Service of the Moscow region, since the beginning of the year, almost 500 samples from wild boars have also been examined, no cases of African swine fever have been registered. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Ecology urges residents of the Moscow region not to buy and not to eat the meat of wild boars and birds, if there is no certainty that the extracted specimens were healthy.
