ABH Miratorg, Russia’s major meat producer, announced that in January 2019 its sheep breeding complex provided company’s meat processing plant with the first batch of lamb of over 3,970 kg in live weight.

Miratorg’s pilot sheep farm with the capacity of 50 thousand heads was launched in 2018. As per today, this project is very unique for Russia since animals are maintained in enclosed barns, which guarantees constant veterinary control, strict adherence to rations and reliable meat quality.

The sheep farm is situated in Fatezh district of Kursk region and provides a full production cycle from breeding of nucleus herds with high genetics to animal fattening. Lambs stay on the farm till 4-6 year of age and 45-55 kg of weight. The production center corresponds to the highest international standards and implements the technologies of the sheep breeding leaders such as Australia and Great Britain.

Lamb slaughtering and meat processing are carried out at a high-tech plant situated in Bryansk region. The plant is a part of ABH Miratorg and meets the highest international requirements for the quality and safety of products, which allows deep cutting and sheep meat processing.

“We see that consumer demand for this type of products is very strong. In future we are going to launch a few other sheep farms in Central Federal region. Extension of the pilot project will make this type of meat more available to the Russian population and promote the export potential of the domestic meat industry”, Miratorg’s press service comments.
