Amendments to the laws “On Veterinary Medicine” and “On the Circulation of Medicines” and provide for tougher rules for the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry will come into force on March 1, 2025. Such a law (No. 636-FZ) was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It was previously planned that the new order will come into force on March 1, 2023.
Recall that the law on the introduction of such restrictions was adopted in 2021. The document provides for a ban on the addition of antimicrobial drugs to animal feed without a prescription or a special requirement.
The Ministry of Agriculture has approved a list of veterinary drugs that cannot be added to feed without a prescription. In particular, we are talking about spectinomycin, novobiocin, florfenicol, trimethoprim, methenamine, benzylpenicillin, cloxacillin, nafcillin and a number of other drugs.
Only manufacturers licensed for pharmaceutical activities will be able to produce feed with the addition of antimicrobials.
