Based on the results of the first six months of this year, pork production in farms of all categories increased by 5.8%, or 166.5 thousand tons. The general director of the union, Yuri Kovalev, spoke about this at the general annual meeting of members of the National Union of Pig Breeders.
“As predicted, the growth rate of pork production remains very high. In the first half of 2024, the increase in pork production in agricultural enterprises amounted to 6.8%, or almost 185 thousand tons in live weight. Moreover, 85% of this increase occurs in the Central Federal District, which sets prices for the entire country,” said Yuri Kovalev.
Pork production on private plots and peasant farms continues to decline. Based on the results of the first six months of this year, the decline in production in private household plots and peasant farms amounted to 10% and 14%, respectively.
In total, according to the results of the first half of the year, the country produced 3.05 million tons of pork in live weight.
