After a perfect year for the sector, the first two months of 2019 shows an increase of 43% for poultry exports.
Ukraine keeps on growing its influence in the poultry markets abroad. This year started with a 43% increase in poultry exports compared to the same period of 2018, according to the State Fiscal Service. It means that in January-February 2019, 63,600 tonnes of poultry have been exported. The value for these products increased by 28% reported to the same period of last year, reaching $88.2 million.
At the same time, imports of poultry in the first two months of the year increased by 5.8%, to 21,500 tonnes and in monetary terms decreased slightly to $8.6 million. In 2018, Ukrainian poultry meat exports hit a record high of 329,000 tonnes, having increased by 21% compared to the previous year. The Netherlands (17.9%), Slovakia (9.3%), Saudi Arabia (9.0%), Belarus (8.4%), Iraq (7.0%), Azerbaijan (6.1%) and Germany (5.0 %) were the top importers of Ukrainian poultry.
