Production volumes of poultry meat in Russia this year should increase by 150 thousand tons. As RIA Novosti reports, this forecast was voiced by Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

At the same time, she stated that the domestic market will be more than 100 percent supplied with these products. At the same time, the Deputy Head of the Government noted that last year production output was at the level of 2022, despite manufacturers’ plans to increase it by almost three percent. Abramchenko expects a future increase in production thanks to the measures taken by the Ministry of Agriculture at the end of last year. The head of the National Union of Poultry Farmers, Sergei Lakhtyukhov, also predicts positive dynamics. However, the main role in this, he said, will be played by the expansion of state support measures for the domestic poultry industry.

Let us recall that in December the Ministry of Agriculture agreed with the largest producing companies on the issue of additional expansion of their capacities for the production of this meat. The ministry also included preferential investment loans in the list of financial support measures for domestic broiler producers, similar to other sectors of the agro-industrial complex. In addition, at the proposal of the department, the Government allowed duty-free import of these products from friendly countries until June 30 of this year in a volume of no more than 140 thousand tons. All these decisions, as expected by the Ministry of Agriculture, would not only prevent shortages, but also reduce prices for products that are directly affected by them.

According to the latest data from Rosstat, in January-November last year, the country produced 3.1 million tons of chilled poultry meat, which is 0.2 percent more than in the same period in 2022. However, in the last of these months, as the department clarified , the figure decreased by 3.7 percent to 284,400 tons. As for prices, Rosstat reported that they had been growing since April, but after November they began to decline. Over the last week he announced (from December 19 to 25), they fell by 0.82 percent. In general, since the beginning of the year, poultry meat has risen in price by 27.71 percent from the 2022 level. Now its price is already approaching 200 rubles per kilogram.
