This opinion is shared by the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko at a meeting of the Council of Ministers with the participation of the President, dedicated to the issue of the functioning of the economy in the conditions of sanctions and measures to overcome them.
To date, 23 joint projects have been identified that are aimed at import substitution in the Union State. Thus, in all areas, the import substitution potential of the union market is $40 billion.
It is worth noting that in 2021 Belarusian organizations exported $400 million worth of butter. In turn, the export of packaged butter amounted to about 20%. At the same time, the price of oil in a small package is 10% higher. In other words, potential losses up to $40 million. The same situation applies to rennet cheeses, beef and rapeseed oil.
In this regard, as a solution to the problem, Roman Golovchenko proposed setting a task for the sectoral ministries to develop plans for the modernization of enterprises producing milk, meat, rapeseed and other goods. According to him, the government will allocate appropriate resources for this.
